Summary:

Basic Function:

The basic function of the Carpenter is to produce exhibits according to detail drawings provided by Detailer and scheduled by the Production Manager.

Reporting Relationships:

The Carpenters report to the Forman.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Forman/Production Manager, the Carpenters will construct exhibit properties to exact specifications as outlined in detail drawings provided to shop.

Constructs and installs trade show exhibit structures, electric wiring, and fixtures of materials, such as wood, plywood, plastics and, HPL Laminates using hand tools and power tools.

Review drawings for temporary or permanent display or exhibit structures, such as framework, fixtures, booths, and cabinets.

Confers with the foreman and project manager to discuss structural feasibility of plans and to suggest alternate methods of displaying objects in exhibit.

Cuts, assembles, and fastens parts to construct framework, panels, shelves, and other exhibit components of specified materials, using hand tools and power tools.

Mounts fittings and fixtures, such as shelves, panelboards, and shadowboxes to framework, using handtools or adhesives.

Installs electrical wiring, fixtures, apparatus, audiovisual components, or control equipment in framework, according to design specifications.

Assembles, installs, or arranges structures at the facility with warehouse personnel.

Tests electrical, electronic, and mechanical components of exhibit structure to verify operation.

Utilize and document raw materials from inventory.  Carpenters will notify Production Manager of low inventory levels prior to materials being depleted.

Assist the Rental Manager in the staging of rental properties as directed by the Rental Manager.

When demand dictates, Carpenters will assist in pulling and inspecting of exhibit properties.

Perform thorough inspections of inbound properties, after Warehouse Employees stage and open crates, and provide damage report to Warehouse / Portables Manager.

Complete projects in allotted number of hours estimated, avoiding overtime labor, without compromising quality standards.

Work on I&D Crews when the need arises.

Maintain standards of cleanliness in the shop.

Complete all required paperwork on projects worked on (time sheets, inventory usage, P&I Damage, etc).

Measures of Performance:

Construct exhibit properties with the highest of quality standards, confidently supporting PG Exhibits Performance Guarantee.

Reduction, or elimination, in overtime labor incurred.
